I must admit I have a new addiction which of course also goes with respect for appliques and all the steps that go into making them! However, the end result is so stinkin' cute! I had the honor of making a dress for a friend's little girl who is turning one this month. When she asked if I could do an cupcake applique, I was giddy like a little school girl. I had just gotten the embroidery module for my machine this summer and had yet to try my hand at any appliques...technology is so cool (most of the time)! She had picked out the fabric and sent it to me so I decided to do a test run first...

Even with all the thread changing and cutting and trimming...I just sit and watch in amazement at the capability and precision this thing has. Aside from my Harley...this is also one of my babies! I am however still working on that relationship with my serger but it is a little more finicky or I am not patient enough, not sure which that might be though. ;) Anyhoo, I was off to do the "real" one for Kate! I loved the fabrics she picked out, the colors are so sweet and worked well together.

I only wish the bib was bigger to see the fun pattern and colors in the bottom of the cupcake but still, so CUTE!!!  So the finished combo turned out well and I cannot wait to see pictures of her (keeping fingers crossed it fits!)  What do you think?

So here is the completed bib with the dress...LOVE!

Hope everyone has a wonderful 11/11/11 and thanks to the past and present men and women who have served our great country, we would not be where we are today without you!

This weekend I am off to work on an apron for a friends blog and giveaway we have coming up, you should totally check it out! Right in time for the upcoming holidays!  Ty's Adventures

How does time get faster as I get older???

I have to say the first couple of weeks in July has been a whirlwind! My sister and her family came into town for the week of the 4th, we had our First Anniversary followed by my birthday week (yep...week!) and trying to get things together for back to back Silly Markets for the next two Sundays! All while trying to figure out how we already got TO the middle of July!!!

It's quite mind boggling to me.  :)

I have been working on some new aprons since I was pretty much sold out and am soooo excited for the one I cut this morning and the matching pot holders!!!  Too cute!  I am really excited too for the fabric I just ordered.

Las Senoritas by Alexander Henry!  One of my favorite purses is out of this fabric and I am excited for all the other things I will make with it!  The colors are so bright and fabulous, I just absolutely love it!

Fiesta de los Muertos by Alexander Henry!!!  I love this one with the guitars and the colors, the skirts and flower and bows...it's so fun!  He has some of the best Folklorico style fabrics, it's hard to pick!

Although I have to say I am really starting to run out of room for all my fabric and projects...I am being overtaken!!!  I cannot wait for my studio!!!  I am still not sure which I am more excited for...my studio or the kitchen?!?!?!?!?!?

Lessons in life...

Well, with the first market out of the way I have to admit I did learn a few things so I guess that is a success right? I have to admit I was thoroughly pleased with the setup and the flamingos! They were the hit of the party!

But how could he not be THE hit of the party?  My husband found his rocks so his drink would be a little closer (he is so thoughtful) and I was able to make his party hat to match the tutu!  FABULOUS!!!

I had a lot of fun and loved having my friends and family come and visit throughout the day and bring me lunch and snacks and of course all the fun people I got to talk to throughout the day!  It was an absolutely beautiful day and I was so thankful for that!!!

I learned I need to get to work on some smaller items!  I didn't have much in the way of baby/toddler inventory but will get to work and see what I can pull together for the next show.  Next time we will be sharing a 10x20 tent with my friend and my husband will be there to help me out and keep me laughing during the day!  =)

However, I am still attempting to figure out how I am going to get my sewing in since my sister and family is in town, it is the 4th of July, our FIRST Anniversary, and my birthday all rolled into a few days but once the hectic schedule simmers down the Head Elf will be back in her "workshop" to create more fluffy, sweet, delicious fun!!!

So many ideas...so little time!!!

HAPPY SUMMER!!!
(Go grab yourself a pink flamingo...they're making a comeback!!!)
