Waiting for Spring...as patiently as I can.

I understand I livin in the mountains but it is this time when I get super antsy for sunshine and warmer weather.  Looking out my window at the gray skies and white stuff that is still blanketing the ground I then venture home to my road de mud!  This is the time I wish I lived down a paved road and not one that sticks to my car like super glue!  But alas, I know the sun will eventually come out to visit and dry the mud and melt the snow and I can venture out on my bike which makes this girl so happy I could jump over the moon!  Until then I will fill my brain and day-dreams with happy colors like these...

...I'm off to day-dream my lunch break away!

Something Shiny...

I have to admit I am definitely easily distracted.  I sometimes feel like Dory on Finding Nemo by perhaps with a slightly better memory.  In the World we live in today there is so much knowledge and technology which can be good and bad I suppose, depending on how one looks at it.  I am always amazed at the things I come across on the internet followed by the thought...why didn't I think of that!? Although I then realize I did think about it but someone put it out there for those who don't have enough hours int he day or just haven't quite figured it out yet.  Example...Vanilla & Lace who posted this ever so handy and clever DIY camera purse/bag tutorial!

I have started carrying my camera around more recently, due to the fact we have officially broken ground and building is underway.  I am taking pictures once a week to see the progression of the house.  It's pretty interesting but of course only a couple of weeks in so there is definitely some time to go.

I was planning on making a bag for my camera but realized after finding the post on Vanilla & Lace I have the perfect bag I got from TJ Maxx that would fit my camera and lenses which would not only be great for capturing the weekly updates of the future structure (eeeek) but also travel.  When I have a few more hours in the day, I might actually get around to it and post some pictures.  ;)  Until then...I'm off to find something shiny!

Ol' Blue Eyes

Have to say, I miss my lil' blue eyes.  She is the sweetest little girl...and I mean little.  She is a petite one for sure but such a cutie!
I had a hard time getting pictures of her outfits I made since I left my camera on my desk at the office when I left for the weekend...genius I know!  What's a girl to do?  Thank goodness for phones, it saved the day...a little fuzzy but was glad when I realized it was the lighting and not my eyes.

She is officially 1 (but still wearing the 3-6 mos. onesie I made for her when she was born) which is now a 3/4 sleeve instead of long sleeve.  Already making a fashion statement or she's gotten Auntie Em's monkey arms.  ;)

Her tutu was perfect until of course it was time for cake, in which case it was time for wardrobe change.  A girl has to have options right???  I planned her outfit colors after I found the cutest lil' pink shoes at Carter's.  My sister was amazed she kept them on the whole time.  Must be one comfy pair of shoes!

I so love this little face!  My sister sent me a picture of her in her cupcake dress since I didn't get to see it on her at the party but she saved it for her official birthday.  I just want to eat up those cheeks!  It is so fun making outfits for her which is about all I might have time to do for a little bit as I will have quite a bit to do since we just broke ground on the house this week.  I have a feeling that will keep me busy for a little while until I can get back and kiss those lil' cheeks again!

In My World...

"Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives."  hee hee...But seriously, I have no idea where that just came from!  Really though, where in the world does time go?  It seems to go into warp speed the older I get...not that I am saying I am old BUT I have gotten a little older over the years.

So many things have seemed to happen in a short amount of time.  I am getting ready to go see my niece for her FIRST birthday!  I can't believe it!  I am STILL attempting to figure out how to start up a business which I also can't quite seem to nail down the direction I want to go.  Although realizing my over-analytical skills, this could be a deterrent and probably a large reason why I am still in limbo!  That and lack of time but I am going to go with the over-analytical route.

I will say my new love has to be Pinterest!  If you have not discovered it yet, you must check it out!  At least if you are a visual nut like I am.  How can one not love collecting and organizing all sorts of images and such in one place.  It's a new visual mecca of addictive proportions!  Here are a few of the yummy collections I have started.

Ah, yes...Pretty In Pink.  I mean really...I'm in love!  And then of course there are these:
Because in my world...these are what make me, me!  Or at least would love to have them and might just need to make some of them.  I think I was born in the wrong era although with technology now I am able to discover more and more ideas and such which of course were not as available oh say 50 - 60 years ago.  But the fashion and the cars...absolutely dreamy!  Even better though might just be the advertisements from back in the day.  I don't think they would go over quite the same now.
or perhaps

I don't know about you but I'm not so sure my Christmas morning would be happier with a Hoover!
However, you have to really love the old cigarette ads.  These really throw me for a loop, where did they come up with this stuff?  I may not have the answer for that but I do know I find great entertainment in all of them I come across!

So I guess I should be thankful for being born into an age of such growing technology where I can still find and make amazing vintage fashions, discover old ads, and then share them with you!  I'd say that's pretty amazing...in my world anyway!

New cards...

I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my new business cards.  I can't wait to see them.

I have been searching and attempting to create something that I love and this pretty closely fits the bill!  It has polka dots, the colors I wanted, clean, fun...I love them!!!  Also, got some new Etsy banners and such once I get my self in gear and items up on the sight!  It's definitely a bit of work but I know will be so worth it and I am really looking forward to it!

I am now teaching myself how to make patterns and am super excited to see what evolves!  I have a couple of lessons under my belt with my serger and my cover stitch class next month!  Ahhhh, the little things in life.  As my husband is off to the football game with a friend, I am daydreaming about all of the things I can't wait to do and put together!  I have to admit, I never thought this is the direction my life would be going but getting my sewing machine a couple of years ago has been liberating and so fulfilling!  I am still wondering if sewing can be passed down as a gene....my Mom must have passed something down to me.  ;) (and for that I am eternally grateful...thanks Mom(s)!!!)

For now...I am off to work on a little sock monkey dress for my little monkey (my niece...she just rolled over to the 6 mos. mark, such an angel that one)!!!

project 9

I am so excited to have discovered Craft Hope yesterday! To be able to potentially bring smiles to people and children is something I love to do and I am very very excited to work on their current project, project 9. September is Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month and volunteers are sewing as many pillowcases they can to donate to Children's Hospitals all over the country to bring a smile or two to children with life threatening illnesses. I am so grateful to be able to participate and make a contribution. I can't wait to get home and sew the 9 cases I have cut so far! I will have to post a few pictures once they are complete! Plus, I am super excited to use my new serger to construct them!!! Yayyyy!!!
